Former fire chief pleads no contest to sex charges

Gillette, Wy – Former Campbell County fire chief Gary Scott has pleaded no contest to 14 state charges of sex abuse. Scott's plea hearing was Tuesday in state District Court in
Gillette. He pleaded no contest to 12 counts of third-degree sexual
assault and two counts of third-degree sexual abuse of a minor.
The 54-year-old already is serving a 24-year federal sentence on
10 felony convictions of taking children across state lines for
sexual abuse.
Campbell County Attorney Jeani Stone issued a statement Tuesday
saying sentencing on the state charges will be held at a later
date.
Prosecutors have said that Tuesday's plea hearing would resolve
all outstanding charges against Scott.
