Freudenthal Asks BLM to Halt Wyo Range Oil & Gas Leasing

Green River, WY – Governor Dave Freudenthal is asking federal officials to halt plans to auction off the rights to drill for oil and gas on 13 parcels in the Wyoming Range.
Freudenthal outlined his concerns in a letter this week to Bob Bennett, the Wyoming director of the U-S Bureau of Land Management.
Freudenthal said in the letter that concerns about oil and gas leasing in the Wyoming Range are growing. He said the area is important for recreation and tourism opportunities for Wyoming residents.
Messages left with the BLM's Wyoming headquarters in Cheyenne and at Bridger-Teton National Forest headquarters in Jackson weren't immediately returned.
