Cheyenne, Wyo. – Gov. Dave Freudenthal is sending a wish list to president-elect Barack Obama.
Freudenthal wrote to Obama on Monday laying out more than $1 billion in state projects the governor wants to see funded under Obama's proposed economic stimulus package.
Freudenthal says it's important that Wyoming participate in the stimulus program because Wyoming is often slower entering recessions than the rest of the country but also slower to emerge from them.
The governor requests more than $400 million for Wyoming highway projects. Other requests include $50 million for a supercomputer project at the University of Wyoming and $55 million in municipal water projects.
Obama aides say the stimulus package could total as much as $775 billion nationwide. Congressional leaders say the bill won't be ready until the middle of next month at the earliest.
