Cheyenne, Wyo. – Gov. Dave Freudenthal is among the scheduled speakers at a conference in Cheyenne that is looking at how to improve Wyoming's dropout rate.
The Wyoming Board of Education and Wyoming P-16 Education Council are hosting the education summit Thursday. A recent report ranked Wyoming 23rd in the nation for its high school graduation rate of 73 percent.
Wyoming's graduation rate fell 2.7 percentage points from 1996 to 2006. That's according to the report by the Editorial Projects in Education Research Center and Education Week magazine. The nationwide graduation rate increased by about the same amount over that period.
