Laramie, WY – Governor Freudnethal will take a week-long trip to the Thorofare in mid-August, guided by teh Cody area Game and Fish Department. The region is known as the most remote wilderness in the lower 48 states.
The Governor says the department has made the offer for several years. This year, he decided to take them up on it: "When I was younger, growing up in Thermop, we used to elk hunt a lot up on the Greybull River. Which is another magnificent set of country. But the chance to go into the Thorofare... every year we look at it. This year we said, 'Look, if you can do it toward the end of August, we can probably make it work.'"
The Governor's wife, Nancy Freudenthal, will also make the trip. They'll go in on horseback, and stay at the Game and Fish Thorofare cabin, 30 miles from roads.
