highways – In fact, they are telling drivers to be wary of deteriorating roads in coming years. The district engineer for the western part of the state is John Eddins. He is especially concerned about the impacts on roads from the massive gas development going on in that part of the state. Eddins says there are already a lot of trucks impacting highways those 80 thousand pound plus loads put a tremendous amount of wear and tear on the road. It also cause problems with traffic. I worry that without necessary improvements in the future that our accident rate could go up. Eddins says it is difficult to respond to problems since roadway construction costs have gone up 100 percent over the past six years. He says they are both cutting back on the projects they can do and reprioritizing others.
