Laramie – On December 29th of last year, a car accident claimed the lives of Tom Thorne and Beth Williams. The husband and wife were well-known for their work as wildlife researchers. Williams was the first to identify chronic wasting disease and was known as the leading expert on the issue. Thorne was an authority on brucellosis and a long-time leader in the Wyoming Game and Fish Department, serving as Director for a period. Game and Fish honored Thorne and Williams yesterday by renaming its Sybille Research Center after them. Wyoming Public Radio's Aaron Alpern reports.
