Gas Blowout Closes Highway

Douglas, Wy – Wyoming 59 north of Douglas was closed for a time Monday after a gas pipeline running along the east side of the highway blew out and burned.
The blowout occurred about 10 a.m. Monday, and the resulting fire and smoke forced closure of the two-lane highway.
Most of the gas burned off around 11:30 a.m. and the highway was allowed to reopen.
There were no injuries and no buildings damaged.
The cause of the blowout is under investigation.
