Laramie, Wy – Governor Dave Freudenthal was interviewing candidates to fill the vacant State Superintendent of Public Instruction's position Wednesday. The Republican State Central Committee sent the governor three names to choose from and he could have a decision as early as this weekend.
The chair of the Republican Party, Drake Hill, is disappointed that the governor did not allow reporters to cover the interviews with the candidates. He is concerned that the public won't know the criteria and process the governor is using to make such an important decision.
The Governor says his criteria will be to find a good manager and someone who truly knows education in Wyoming. He says he keeps the interviews closed so they can be candid interviews- similar to a job interview.
