Governor braces for budget changes

Cheyenne, Wy –
Reports say that revenue projections for the coming year will be reduced substantially by the state's revenue forecasting group. Governor Dave Freudenthal has heard that the projected surplus will be closer to 300 million dollars .which is 600 million dollars less then thought. It means the Governor will need to reduce his proposed budget request and lawmakers may have to forgo legislation that had required lots of new money. But Freudenthal notes that it is much better news then other states are dealing with, noting that Wyoming still has a surplus and won't be cutting any existing budgets.
While some remain optimistic about Wyoming's economy, Freudenthal says there is cause for concern in the short term. The Governor is also asking state agencies to find ways to do a better job with the money they currently have.
