Governor elect wants to hit the ground running
By Bob Beck
Laramie, Wy – Governor-elect Matt Mead says he will have an ambitious agenda when he takes office next month. Mead's inauguration is January third and he hopes to hit the ground running. He is wrapping up interviews for various positions in state government and preparing for the legislative session. Mead has heard lawmakers like to consider bills for a couple of years before they become law. He says he will push to change that attitude.
" You know if you can move on good ideas with relative speed that's how you can effect change. I've been elected to be governor for four years. I've got two general sessions and two budget sessions. I don't want to waste any time in getting things done that we want to get done."
Among Mead's early priorities are funding for local governments, highways, and economic development efforts such as data centers. Mead also will propose changing the makeup of some state agencies.
