Governor Freudenthal hosts growth conference in Casper
Casper, WY – Development experts from across the country met in Casper to discuss the consequences of Wyoming's growth on future generations.
Among the major concerns was the fast pace of rural-residential development and the role the government often takes in paying for the infrastructure in those low-density communities.
Governor Dave Fruedenthal says he was interested at the level of attention the issue received.
Experts at the two-day Casper conference say these rural subdivisions are a burden to local governments that must pay to maintain water and transportation infrastructure. Many experts touted clustered growth as an alternative.
