Laramie, Wy – The chair of the state Senate's Education Committee says as the cost of education goes up there should be a discussion about consolidating school districts. He says this could improve efficiency and save some money.
But, Governor Dave Freudenthal says he is against consolidation because he thinks providing quality education is more important than efficiency and if districts are going to combine they should make the decision on their own.
Freudenthal says he does believe the state will spend even more money on education next year. He says it is important to deal teacher salaries and funding a scholarship program so it can benefit students as soon as possible.
