Governor Skips Democratic National Convention
Cheyenne, Wy – Governor Freudenthal has an invitation to
this week's Democratic National Convention in Boston, but he's not
attending because he says the timing of it is horrible.
Freudenthal says he and his wife, Nancy, have long been committed to support Cheyenne Frontier Days this week. Then on Saturday, they plan to be in Rock Springs for several events including the Red Desert Roundup parade and a cattle drive.
Freudenthal says things might have been different if the party's presidential nomination had been contested. But John Kerry has been the presumptive nominee for several months now.
The Freudenthals attended the 1984 Democratic National Convention in San Francisco. Freudenthal says they had a lot of fun, but he's not sure if he needs to experience it again.
The Wyoming governor is extended an automatic invitation to the quadrennial convention of his or her party.
