Cheyenne, Wy – Sales of Governor Freudenthal's
big game hunting licenses have topped
one-(M)-million dollars, with the bulk of proceeds benefitingWyoming's wildlife.
By statute, the governor can receive up to 20 complimentary licenses each year.
The governor's press secretary -- Lara Azar -- says that since
he took office in 2003, Freudenthal has given all his big game
licenses to the Wildlife Heritage Foundation of Wyoming, which
administers their sale.
Proceeds go toward wildlife and habitat projects, with input
from both the hunting and conservation communities.
So far, the money has been spent on 71 projects, nearly 40 of
which have already been completed.
Examples include awareness campaigns, wetlands habitat
restoration and wildlife population monitoring.
