Governors Veto Overriden
Cheyenne, Wy – The Wyoming House and Senate voted Friday to override or reject Governor Dave Freudenthal's first veto of the year. The bill he vetoed deals with privileged communications between lawmakers, staff, constituents and consultants. It essentially allows legislators to keep these reports and discussions private if they want to.
The President of the Senate, Grant Larson, says this confidentiality will help lawmakers develop their ideas. And he says this is not something the public cares about.
The governor says this shows lawmakers believe government should be closed and privileged. The speaker of the house counters that the governor only vetoed this bill because it is an election year.
