Grad Rates Down At U-W
Laramie, Wy – University of Wyoming Trustees were told that graduation rates for the U-W are only around 50 percent, and generally less then 30 percent graduate in four years. Vice President for Academic Affairs Tom Buchanan told the trustees that he's concerned that the reason many of the students are not making it, is because they go on probation within their first couple of years. For that reason, U-W is implementing some programs to try and help those students.
Buchanan would like to see graduation numbers closer to 60 percent. President Phil Dubois says other reasons students leave are wide ranging, including financial. U-W officials are also concerned that some students are not taking the adequate college prep classes.
