Graduated Driver's License Bill Gets Support

Cheyenne, Wy – A piece of legislation that has a history of trouble got a unanimous do-pass from a Senate committee Monday. Senate File 14, the Graduated Drivers License bill was approved after the Transportation committee heard support from a packed room, including three teenagers. The bill requires 15 year olds have several hours of supervised driving and puts limits on 16 year olds, such as only allowing one passenger under 21 in a vehicle. 14 year old Sienna White of Cody told the committee that young drivers scare her and that's why she is in favor of the concept.
Senator Gerry Geis asked White if she understood that the bill was taking away her rights, she countered that she didn't see it that way. Noting driving is a privilege.
