Grand Teton pathway to open

Jackson, Wy – Eight miles of a paved pathway in Grand Teton National Park will be open for use this weekend. Park Spokeswoman Jackie Skaggs says it runs from the park entrance to Jenny Lake. It's the first phase of several miles of paved pathways that are scheduled to be built.
"It's a beautiful new pathway that allows people to recreate in a different way then previously used in this corridor. This corridor mostly saw vehicle traffic only and now we will see bike riders, people walking and maybe some in-line skaters."
Skaggs admits that the Park in interested in how wildlife will react to the new pathway and wildlife biologists will study the impacts and will mitigate any problems. Supporters say that the Pathways will eliminate bike-vehicle conflicts on Park roads.
