Grizzlies Seek Pine Cones

Laramie, WY – The state game department is warning hunters and outdoor enthusiasts to watch out for grizzly bears in some areas of Wyoming. A large crop of white-bark pine cones could attract the bears because the cones are high in fat and help prepare grizzlies for hibernation. The game department says people heading into the woods should be aware that bears may be searching for the cones in mid- to high-elevation conifer stands that hold white-bark pine.
