Cheyenne, Wy – The Wyoming Game and Fish department has released its long awaited final draft management plan for Grizzly Bears.
Game and Fish officials say they received over 17 thousand written comments over four months. Director Terry Cleveland says they are trying to meet the minimum standards for removal of Grizzlies from the endangered species list. Bears would be managed slightly above a level of 500 Bears, and game and fish officials say they would be in northwestern Wyoming is what they term is suitable Grizzly Bear habitat. But they also aim to reduce public and Grizzly Bear conflicts, and no bear will be killed unless it displays unnatural aggression. They say it will be relocated first. The Game and Fish Commission will vote on the plan in July.
