Laramie, WY – About 120 people met at the University of Wyoming last night to organize an effort to reduce Laramie's contribution to global warming. The group wants the city to sign a nationwide pact to make Laramie a so-called Cool City. That designation would require the city to reduce carbon emissions significantly. Organizer Sam Singer says he hopes the move will promote renewable energy. "Here in Wyoming we have plenty of sunlight and, we all know, plenty of wind, and it's time to start tapping some of those resources, to switch over, using those instead of burning as much coal as we do now," he said. Singer says he would love to see U-W get all of its energy from solar and wind sources.
