Groups Sue Over Bison

Yellowstone National Park – Two environmental groups and several
property owners are seeking to intervene in a lawsuit over the capture and hazing of bison that wander outside Yellowstone
National Park.
A cattle industry group in May asked a Montana judge to force the Department of Livestock to capture, kill or haze bison in an area west of the park. The industry groups says the bison could spread the disease brucellosis, which causes cattle to abort their young.
But no cattle graze in the area at the center of the dispute,
and the Natural Resources Defense Council, Greater Yellowstone
Coalition and eight nearby property owners want the bison left
alone.
The case is before District Judge Loren Tucker in Madison
County.
