Groups want state to Step up for kids

Laramie, Wy – This week public officials in Wyoming are being asked to focus on issues impacting children. It's called Step Up For Kids week. Wyoming is one of 27 states involved in the effort. Deanna Frey of the Wyoming Children's Action Alliance says they want elected officials at all levels to consider kids when making key program and budget decisions. Frey says that while Wyoming is a great place to raise kids it is far from perfect.
"But when you look at the data, we still have a lot of kids who are living in poverty, children that don't have health insurance, so what we want to do is bring awareness to that."
Frey says it's not just government officials who can make life better for children. She encourages everyone to improve things for kids in their communities.
