Haynes gets 7% of gov vote as a write-in
Laramie, WY – The secretary of state's office says Taylor Haynes finished third in the November 2 election for Wyoming governor.
The retired Cheyenne surgeon and rancher ran as a write-in candidate.
Republican Matt Mead won the race handily with 65 percent of the vote, followed by Democrat Leslie Petersen with 23 percent.
A count of the write-in votes shows Haynes received 7 percent.
That was enough to beat Libertarian Mike Wheeler, who got about 5,600 votes, or 3 percent.
