Hearing on Laramie Murder Delayed

Laramie, Wy – The preliminary hearing for the suspect in the murder that took place in Laramie last week has been delayed. A new date should be set Wednesday. Right now what is known is that former U-W basketball player Aaron Smith has been charged with first degree murder for shooting Henry McCone of Laramie on August fourth. No one has said publicly they saw Smith shoot McCone witnesses did see him fleeing the scene. Last Thursday police went to an apartment where Smith was living and found him, a handgun, and cartridges similar to one from the scene of the murder.
Police also spoke with Smith's ex-girlfriend. She told them he was angry with the victim because McCone owed him money.
Smith's attorney did not return phone calls to Wyoming Public Radio.
