House Compromises on Hathaway Demands
Cheyenne, WY – The state House changed the requirements to receive the Hathaway Scholarship again. As it stands now, to receive the top two levels of money students must take a more rigorous course load. This is a compromise between two groups of representatives; those who wanted to require that all four levels of scholarship recipient to take the hardest courses, and those who wanted that requirement to apply to only the highest level. Speaker of the House Roy Cohee says he is proud of the compromise. There may be more compromise needed. Several key state Senators say they want the rigorous courses mandatory for anyone getting Hathaway scholarship money. The bill now heads to the Senate.
