House convenes panel on residency challenge

Cheyenne, Wyo. – The Wyoming House of Representatives has appointed a special committee to hear a complaint from a former state representative and other residents of House District 45 who are contesting the election of Republican Matt Greene.

Greene defeated former State Rep. Seth Carson, D-Laramie, in November. Carson claims Greene didn't live in the district for a full year before the vote, as required under the Wyoming Constitution.

House Speaker Ed Buchanan, R-Torrington, on Tuesday appointed Republican Rep. Pete Illoway of Cheyenne to oversee a committee of six Republicans and two Democrats hearing the complaint. The committee will start meeting Wednesday afternoon and ultimately prepare a report on the issue for the full House.
