Cheyenne, WY – The Wyoming House of Representatives is debating a bill that would provide property tax relief to all state citizens.
Cheyenne Republican Pete Anderson says the bill provides every Wyoming citizen a tax break on the first $4400 of their assessed valuation. He says most people should save a few hundred dollars on their property taxes.
The bill also protects local government by making up revenue they could lose with the exemption. The bill is part of a package of property tax relief measures the house will review this week. The house defeated a more targeted property tax relief measure supported by the Speaker of the House.
