Independent Taylor Haynes will not be on ballot for governor

Laramie, WY – The Wyoming Secretary of State says that rancher, University of Wyoming trustee and retired surgeon Taylor Haynes will not be on the ballot in November. Haynes had hoped to run for governor as an independent candidate. In order to appear on the ballot, he was required to gather 4,988 signatures from qualified Wyoming voters. He says he submitted more than that - but the Secretary of State's office says not enough of them were valid signatures.
Haynes had said he would be the most conservative candidate in the race. Immediately after the announcement from the Secretary of State, he could not be reached for comment.
Without Haynes in the race, the candidates for governor are Democrat Leslie Petersen, Republican Matt Mead and Libertarian Mike Wheeler.
There are three independent candidates who did qualify to run those are in local legislative races.
