Jackson Police Make Arrests
Jackson, Wy – Jackson police have arrested two people in connection with a pair of first degree sexual assaults that occurred this summer and have identified two other suspects. Interim Police Chief Scott Terry says one suspect is in the Teton County jail while the other is being returned after being picked up in Montana. Two others have likely fled to Mexico. Terry says it is a difficult case because violent first degree sexual assaults don't often happen in Jackson. He says it struck fear in the community especially since the suspects were Latino. He says anglos thought they would be targeted, while Latinos thought they would face repercussions. But Terry says the Latino community worked closely with police to try and identify the subjects. But he says some healing is still needed in the community, and they are holding some meetings to do just that. Terry remains optimistic that all four suspects will have to stand trial.
