Jackson residents told to prepare to evacuate

Reed Finlay

About a thousand residents of Jackson are being warned that they need to prepare to evacuate due to a 15-hundred acre wildfire south of town.

Teton County Emergency Management Coordinator Rich Ochs says the evacuation area east of Vine Street, south of Kelly, east of Redmond and south of Broadway is the area under alert.

Maybe if they own livestock or have pets and things like that, we want them to consider not to leave the house for the day without taking them with you.  If you have mobility or access issues you may want to consider voluntarily evacuating at this time.”

Ochs says people should also take medication or any essential items with them, because if they have to evacuate things will move quickly.
