In an effort to change how Wyoming's community colleges are funded and governed a state lawmaker is drafting a bill for the upcoming legislative session. Representative Pete Jorgensen says after years of discussing what to do, it's time to take action.
"As a result of two years on task forces and advisory boards for community colleges I don't feel like we accomplished very much."
Jorgensen says his bill would set up a statewide tax to help fund colleges. Right now only people living in the counties that house the colleges pay taxes supporting them. Jorgensen says he is also working on developing oversight boards would have people from a wider area. Again currently those boards are only made up of people in the colleges' home counties.
