Judge Could Solve Backlog
Gillette, Wy – There was plenty of interest in the new judicial seat proposed for Campbell Crook and Weston counties. 12 people applied for the opening by the deadline at the end of May. The District court judge would be the third in the sixth Judicial District and Judge John Perry says the person is badly needed. Perry says an overabundance of criminal cases tied to some of the growth in Campbell County has helped set civil cases back. Perry says the court calendar is mostly delaying civil cases.
Perry adds if there is more litigation due to split estate issues, that backlog could get even worse.
