Judge won't move former police chief's trial

Laramie, WY – A judge says the trial for a former Rawlins police captain and Carbon County commissioner accused of sexual assault will stay in the county for now.
A judge on Thursday denied a motion to move the trial of
46-year-old Adam "Lee" Meacham but didn't rule out changing the
venue later. Meacham's lawyer, Michael Krampner, had argued it
could be harder to find unbiased jurors in Carbon County.
The judge ruled Thursday that Meacham would be tried on
misdemeanor charges separately from felony charges that allege
Meacham had sexual encounters with two teen girls in the 1990s. The
misdemeanor charges stem from separate allegations, including that
he provided alcohol to teens.
