July 1st Telecom Bill Offers Local Service Price Caps

Laramie, WY – When a new telecommunications law goes into effect this July, consumers may not see huge changes in, or more choices in . phone service. That's because the law aims to adapt older regulations to today's telecom landscape. But, office of consumer advocate chief, Bryce Freeman, says customers may see a bit more stability in their bills, including a cap on local phone service rates. That price cap could last until 2009. Freeman also says that land line coverage is basically strong and competitive in the state, although he says that the number of subscribers to land line service is dropping possibly because those people are using cell phones exclusively.
