Lander group wants open container changes

Lander, Wy – A Lander group is asking the City Council to modify its tradition of allowing the public to carry open alcoholic drinks on July 4.
The council normally votes in June to waive the city's open
container restriction on Independence Day. The idea is to let
people drink at the Pageant of the Old West parade and the buffalo
barbecue in City Park.
April Coffman, the adviser of a Lander Valley High School group
called Changing Attitudes Now, asked the council last week to
consider waiving the open container law only after noon.
She and other supporters say the change would help protect
children at the parade from the example of people drinking in the
streets.
Council members say they'll consider community input when they
vote on the open container waiver this year.
