Laramie Group Wants Logging Delay
Laramie, Wy – A Laramie conservation group has filed a petition asking the Medicine Bow National forest to delay logging until a study determines the effects of the Pine Beetle Outbreak. The concern is that logging will remove needed cover for certain species and could put them at risk. Some have suggested that logging would improve forest health, but the Biodiversity Conservation Alliance's Duane Short says the Beetle outbreak has changed that. Short says with the Beetles killing large numbers of Lodgepole Pine logging would harm forest wildlife that lives deep in the forest.
