Laramie man honored for heroics

Laramie, WY – A Laramie man has received the Distinguished Flying Cross for Valor. Wyoming Army National Guard Chief Warrant Officer Brandon Erdmann was involved in a mission in which a squad of infantrymen was pinned down by dozens of Taliban fighters in Afghanistan.
At the end of the three-hour ordeal, Erdmann and the rest of his medevac crew on a Blackhawk helicopter had hoisted five injured infantrymen to safety while under fire.
All of his fellow crewmembers also received the Distinguished Flying Cross for Valor, except for a medic who was awarded the Silver Star.
