Laramie, WY – Residents of Laramie are putting away the sandbags after record breaking flooding there.
Teams of volunteers were working Tuesday to pick up an estimated 22,000 sandbags placed around town last week.
The sand in the sandbags will be saved for de-icing streets this winter.
The swollen Laramie River closed roads in Laramie and surrounding areas in Albany County in the southeast part of the state.
The river reached 6.5 feet at Laramie, shattering its previous record high of 5.3 feet set in 2005.
