Laramie Smoking Ban Leads to Cleaner Air
Laramie, WY – A study of the air in restaurants and bars in Laramie and Cheyenne shows that the smoking ban in Laramie made air cleaner. The research shows that there is 20% more pollution in Cheyenne establishments. It also shows second hand smoke made a quarter of Laramie bars and restaurants "very unhealthy."
The University of Wyoming's Survey and Analysis Center did this study. While some might say it proved the obvious, researcher Laura Feldman says it shows how risky second hand smoke can be. The survey and analysis center is in the process of researching the social and economic impacts of the smoking ordinance in Laramie. The smoking ban went into effect in April of this year.
