Lawmakers to Consider Tightening Lobbyist Laws

Laramie, Wy – A legislative interim committee may review
proposed changes in the state's lobbyist disclosure laws this year.
The Joint Interim Committee on Corporations, Elections and Political Subdivisions has included the lobbyist disclosure review into interim work.
The committee will review information from the League of Women
Voters and the Equality State Policy Center which requested the lobbyist disclosure study.
National public policy groups have given the state low grades for its weak lobbyist disclosure law. The groups contend the disclosure reports lobbyists are required to file with the state do not reflect the full cost of their legislative lobbying work.
Separately, the legislative management council rejected a proposal for an interim study of establishing electronic voting in the Legislature.
