Cheyenne, WY – State Senator Charlie Scott is touting a health care reform measure that is intended to bring down costs and provide coverage to those who cannot afford health insurance.
The pilot project was discussed by a Senate committee on Friday. Scott chairs the committee and says the idea is to try to both control costs and help residents prevent illness and other health problems. Scott says they are hoping this approach will make health care more affordable. But he admits it will be tricky: "The one thing I will absolutely guarantee to you is that we will get some of the details wrong. That is the problem with an experimental project, but we need to get started on it."
The bill is expected to be voted on by the committee this week. Scott says some don't want to pay for the project and that might be a hurdle to overcome.
