Laramie, Wy – The argument over the possible effects of Amendment B continues. The amendment would take money from school districts in mineral rich counties that have excess funding and send the revenue to the state. The criticism is there is no guarantee the money will go to education. That's the point Gillette Representative Jeff Wasserburger is trying to make, who says the money could be used for anything. However, Representative, Colin Simpson of Cody disagrees. He says state law says the excess money must be returned to school districts. A member of the Legislative Service Office says there is no absolute guarantee this money will go to schools, but to spend it on anything else would take an awful lot of finagling by lawmakers.
