Legislature passes budget

Cheyenne, WY – The Legislature has passed a budget for the next two years - and it's a billion dollars smaller than the current budget. The budget is smaller due to a downturn in the economy. Looking ahead, Senate Appropriations Chairman Phil Nicholas says lawmakers will have to continue to monitor oil and gas revenues. He says if the economy picks up, it will lead to more questions: "We had a rapid growth of government in the last six or seven years. I think there are some of us, I am one of those, that believe that we need to plateau some of that spending, whether or not we have a lot of revenue."

The budget now goes to the Governor who says he will take action on it by Friday morning.
