Cheyenne, WY – On the same day the Idaho legislature sent a felony dog fighting bill to its Governor, Wyoming representatives overwhelming voted to consider a bill that would also make dog fighting a felony.
Wyoming and Idaho are the only two states that don't have such a law. Opponent Pete Anderson says Wyoming already has adequate animal abuse laws but sponsor Rosie Berger says for those laws to apply, the crime has to be drastic.
The bill heads to into a legislative committee next week and Berger plans to offer an amendment that would make dog fighting a felony on a first offense. Her current bill makes it a felony on a second offense.
