Libertarian Candidate Wants to Prosecute Execs
By Peter O'Dowd
Laramie, WY – The Libertarian candidate running for Wyoming's seat in the US House of Representatives says going after corporate executives is the best way to restore confidence in the nation's economy.
W. David Herbert is a retired podiatrist and Vietnam War veteran from Riverton. He says the government should avoid further regulation of the financial industry, and prosecute the CEOs who brought down the system: "We have laws on the books that we can go after crooks and people who commit fraud. We don't need anymore than that. We have to enforce what we got, but for some reason we don't have the stomach to do that."
Herbert says infusing government cash into banks will cause widespread inflation. He adds that putting so much power into the hands of the Secretary of the Treasury to orchestrate the bailout is unconstitutional.
