Laramie, WY – It appears that just about everyone who has ever held a political office in Wyoming wants to be the state's next U.S. senator.
Among the 31 names submitted to the Wyoming Republican Party to replace the late Senator Craig Thomas are 9 former state legislators, a U.S. wildlife official and one former county commissioner.
Also in the running is former US Attorney Matt Meade, who's the grandson of former US Senator Cliff Hanson; and Colin Simpson, the son of former Senator Alan Simpson.
Wyoming G-O-P Chairman Fred Parady says he's impressed with the field.
A committee of the state G-O-P will narrow the list to three on June 19. The governor will then have five days to select the nation's next senator.
