Cheyenne, WY – It appears that local governments are in line for a lot of new money from the state. As negotiators at the State Capitol wrap up work on the budget bill both the House and Senate agreed to put roughly 250 million new dollars into local governments. The disagreement is that the house of representatives wants to add another 26 million. Senator Phil Nicholas of Laramie notes that poor counties will get some 13 million dollars targeted just for them. Funding for local government was the top issue of disagreement during the budget conference committee debate two years ago. Nicholas doubts it will be much of an issue this time.
