Dubois, WY – Planning meetings were held this week in Dubois for how to implement a program that aims to revitalize downtown areas. Dubois, Laramie, and Green River were chosen for the Wyoming Main Street program, which was revived by the Legislature this year. Arden Lindsey is spearheading the local end of the Main Street effort, as the President of Dubois Volunteers Incorporated. She says the program fits where Dubois hopes to go because it concentrates on both economic development and historic preservation. Lindsey says that will allow the town to maintain its unique, western quality and perhaps enhance it. Lindsey says the centerpiece of the Main Street efforts in Dubois is the so-called Corner Property, where US 287 makes a 90-degree turn in the heart of town. This formerly blighted area has already seen improvements in recent years. Lindsey says they are also considering more clearly defining the town entrances, to better identify Dubois as a place for passing travelers to stop.
